THE measures to restructure and recapitalise the Bank of Cyprus (BoC) have solidified its position as the island’s biggest lender, marking a new era, it said yesterday.
昨日报道，塞浦路斯银行重组的系列措施，已经巩固了其作为岛上最大的银行的地位，这标志着一个新的时代。
“The restructuring and recapitalisation of BoC follows the decisions of the Eurogroup and aims at creating a well-capitalised, healthy and resilient bank, able to serve the needs of its customers and support the Cypriot economy,” BoC said in a statement.
塞浦路斯银行在一份声明中说：“塞浦路斯银行是根据欧元集团的决定重组的，目标在于创造一个良好的资本化、健康而有弹性的、能够满足客户需求、并支撑塞浦路斯经济银行系统”。

NICOSIA - The Holy Synod, in an emergency meeting Tuesday, decided to extend its assistance to those affected by the economic crisis, announcing the launch of a programme to provide social care.

The Bishop of Paphos said after the meeting, it had been decided that each Diocese would mortgage its property, in order to continue providing assistance.

NICOSIA - Trading resumes today on the Cyprus Stock Exchange with exception of BoC and Laiki.
The Stock Exchange has been closed for two weeks.

4.Measures announced to boost economy

THE government will soon approve measures aimed at boosting the crippled economy, that are expected to include casinos, fast-tracking permits for large projects, tax breaks, and relaxation of measures to encourage foreign investment.
政府将很快批准刺激经济的措施，包括开设赌场，对大型项目执行快速许可审批，减免税收，房款措施，鼓励外商投资等。
